Cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye. When we look at something, light rays travel into our eye through the pupil and are focused through the lens onto the retina, which is a layer of light-sensitive cells at the back of the eye. Generally, cataracts occur due to aging, prolonged exposure to ultra violet rays, diabetes, eye injuries and prolonged use of systemic steroids.
